Landing training or base training is part of the Cessna 525 type rating training. If the type rating training is provided in simulator, the base training is than provided upon the course completion and passed skill test with TRE C525. In accordance with GM1 ORA.ATO.125(f), the flight training shall only be provided in the way to stay within the flight envelope of the particular Cessna 525 variant. This flight training is not required if any part of the typerating training course has been done directly in an aircraft with duration of at least 2 hours or 6 landings.

Duration of Cessna 525 base training

The base training can be counted into the total type rating time. It however shall not exceed more than 2 hours.

Base training for the Cessna 525 Citation variants consists of a minimum of 6 landings. If the pilot has flown more than 500 flight hours in aircraft of similar size and performance, the minimum number of landings may be reduced to four.

Base training for Cessna 525 series is described in AMC2 ORA.ATO.125 as follows:

  • 6, respectively 4 landings
  • 1 full stop landings
  • 1 go-around

TRI Cessna 525 for base training

The type rating instructor for Base Training flight training must hold a TRI certificate for Cessna 525 type rating. In addition, he must hold either the so-called TRI C525 unrestricted, or TRI C525 certificate with base training privileges. Sometimes called as TRI C525 restricted to landing training.
