Base training, the traffic patterns with jetliner

Landing training, or base training - it's the same. These are traffic patterns with a public transport aircraft after the completion of type rating training for a specific aircraft type. Base training is required if the training in the aircraft that is part of the type training does not exceed 2 hours.

Content of the base training is indicated in AMC2 ORA.ATO.125 as follows:

  • at least 6 landings, or
  • 4 landings if pilot has at least 500 hours on similar type
  • at least 1 full stop landing
  • 1 go-around with all engines

Base training can be provided by a TRI with following privileges:

  • TRI unrestricted, or
  • TRI restricted to landing training - FCL.910.TRI(a)(2)
